Wind your way through the West Country as we follow rivers and railways on this relaxing holiday. Our first excursion takes you along the Riviera Line, a picturesque railway which travels along the South Devon coast and passes the famous sea wall in Dawlish. Next we are pulled through glorious countryside by a historic steam engine which follows the course of the Dart river, while another excursion takes us along the full length of the longest heritage railway in the UK. We also take some time out to visit coastal towns in Devon and Somerset, and we enjoy a cream tea cruise along the river Exe, complete with golden scones, strawberry jam and locally-made clotted cream. It’s a fun and fulfilling way to explore this outstanding corner of the country.

Day 2: The Riviera Line, Torquay & South Devon
This morning we board our coach and travel to Exeter for a journey along Great Western Railway’s Riviera Line. This delightful route winds out of the station and follows the Exe river all the way to the coast, where it passes scenic headlands and pretty towns, including Dawlish and Teignmouth, before following the Teign river. We alight from the train in Torquay and have some free time to enjoy the vibrant waterfront. In the afternoon we travel by coach to Buckfastleigh and join the South Devon Railway, which runs through the stunning valley of the Dart river.
Day 3: Exmouth Cruise & Rail

During the journey our skipper gives a live commentary on the history of the area, the beautiful sights, and the resident and visiting wildlife, plus we are served a delicious Devon cream tea with fresh scones, strawberry jam and locally-made clotted cream.
